At the recent Google I/O 2025 event, the company unveiled a plethora of new AI features that directly set a high bar for competitors in the e-commerce space. One feature that initially gained significant attraction was the “Try-On Clothes” capability, which lets you virtually test apparel without physically wearing it, simply by uploading a picture.

Today, Google has officially extended this innovative function to include shoes and sneakers. You can now try various footwear styles on yourself by just uploading a full-length photo.

The most interesting aspect, clarified by the company’s own demonstration, is that you only need to upload your complete picture—not just a close-up of your feet. The example also showcased the impressive accuracy of the system by rendering the new item realistically, even adjusting to show how high heels would look, despite the person in the original photo wearing flat sneakers. This is a game-changer for online shopping.

This new Try-On Shoes feature is incredibly practical. It allows you to virtually try on every pair of shoes with your existing clothes just by sharing a picture. This instantly provides you with the ease of choosing the exact style that will be best suited for your outfit. Once you’ve made your selection, you are ready to purchase in no time.

The only thing you need to ensure for the best experience is a good quality, clear image. This helps the AI accurately render the final look, including the material and texture of the shoe. Google stands behind the technology’s precision, claiming:

Currently, this new Try-On Shoes feature is rolling out to US users. However, the original “Try-On” feature for apparel like dresses, shirts, pants, and skirts is already being expanded to other countries, including Japan, Australia, and Canada, in the coming weeks. This rapid expansion shows that Google’s AI is now literally providing feasibility and easiness for everyone, specifically within the crucial shopping criteria.
